Biography:

Carol Moore is owner/president of Laughing Cat Productions, an agency specializing in marketing and video production.  With video work ranging from 30 second commercials to 60 minute concerts, the Laughing Cat specialty is the 3 to 10 minute scripted video.  Laughing Cat was founded in 1988, after Carol successfully produced three corporate videos as a consultant.   Laughing Cat Productions was a 1998 Telly Awards finalist in the Corporate Image category, with a video history of Citizens Financial Services, FSB.   In May, 1999, the company received certification from the state of Indiana as a Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE).

Northwest Indiana basketball fans will recognize Carol from Indiana games.  She has served as a volunteer host during basketball games, pledge drives, and auctions on WYIN since the station first went on the air.  As a co-host of This Week in Munster, a local cable show, Carol has interviewed many of northwest Indiana’s notables.

Carol first ventured into entrepreneurship as a consultant and grant writer.  The very existence of WYIN, Channel 56, is an example of her success at grant writing.  She was the author of grants worth over a million dollars for construction funding.  Carol also served as an interim executive director for Northwest Indiana Public Broadcasting.  Carol got her start in television as a volunteer at WCAE, Channel 50, in St. John.

Currently an instructor at Purdue University Calumet, Carol has also served in that capacity at Valparaiso University.  Carol has been recognized in Who’s Who in the Media and Communications, 1998-99, in Who’s Who of American Women since 1997, and in Who’s Who in the Midwest since 1990.  She was named Outstanding Volunteer of 1999 by WYIN, Channel 56.  She has received an Outstanding Volunteer Award from ERASE ILLITERACY, and the Order of the Big Bird from the Indiana Public Broadcasting Society.

Carol currently serves as the president of the Northwest Indiana World Trade Council.  She is outgoing president of the Communicators of Northwest Indiana, and Resident Agent /Treasurer of the Educational Referral Center.  She also serves on the board of the Northwest Indiana Literacy Coalition, MUNCAB (Munster Cable TV Committee) and the Munster Education Foundation.  She was one of the original incorporators and a board member of Northwest Indiana Public Broadcasting, Inc. for many years.  She served two terms as Allocations Chair for the Lake Area United Way.  Carol is active in many civic and professional organizations.

Carol and her husband Dave have three grown children.  They reside in Munster, Indiana. Carol is an avid golfer, belonging to leagues at Wicker Park and Scherwood Club.
