Welcome to the Fall 2005 Issue of Global
Media Journal, devoted to Mass Media in Asia.
Kuldip K. Rampal
of Central Missouri State University
is the Guest Editor of the Research section and Adel Iskandar of the
University of Kentucky,
Lexington, is the Guest Editor of the Graduate Research section.
The Spring 2006 issue of Global Media
Journal, to be edited by
Drew McDaniel
of
Ohio University,
will publish outstanding papers presented at the
Global Fusion Conference,
Athens, Ohio, September 30-November 2, 2005. The theme of the
conference was "Global Media, Culture, and Health." Danielle
Stern of Ohio University will serve as the Graduate Guest Editor.
In addition, the spring 2006 issue will publish several invited
(non-refereed) papers in both faculty and graduate sections.
I am pleased to inform you that the African,
Arabic, Chinese (in print format), Indian, Mediterranean, and
Spanish editions of Global Media Journal are now
available online. The Australian, Turkish, Persian and
other editions of GMJ will soon become available. My
goal is to eventually establish editions in most major languages and
regions of the world.
Global Media Journal, advised by an editorial
board of prominent international communication scholars, publishes
refereed papers, invited papers, commentaries, book reviews, and
announcements. It also, offers an opportunity to graduate
students to publish their work online. Furthermore, the
Dialogue section is intended to reflect diverse perspectives related
to mass media and global communication.
Global Media Journal, hosted by the
Purdue University Calumet,
Hammond, Indiana, USA, is currently an open-access publication
dedicated to exploring the world of communication. Although
the Journal will be published in Spring and Fall of each
year, its contents--except for the scholarly and graduate research
sections--will be updated regularly.
I hope you will find the contents of this issue
informative, engaging, and rewarding. Utilizing the latest
modes of digital communication and audio-video streaming, Global
Media Journal promises to be innovative, interactive, diverse,
comprehensive, and truly global.
Your suggestions and comments for improving the
contents and design of the Journal will be appreciated.
With warm regards,
