Biography

·        Over 25 years in the media as a practising journalist in various capacities like staff reporter, special correspondent, assistant editor, resident editor, consulting editor in newspaper groups like The Statesman, The Times of India/The Economic Times, The Financial Express/ The Indian Express.

 

·        Written extensively on Indian politics, economy, environment, culture and contemporary life. Continue to write columns.

 

·        Apart from the present full-time teaching assignment in Africa, have been a visiting faculty member to universities of Calcutta, Jadavpur and Visva Bharati for more than a decade. Empanelled as an examiner of post-graduate students of journalism at CU.

 

·        Appointed by the UNICEF as a communication consultant for the UNICEF funded geographical information system (GIS) project for the Government of West Bengal (KMDA).

 

·        Director (Editorial) of a publishing house Vision Publications (25a, Park Street, Kolkata 700016). Consulting editor of its magazines Environ (English) and Computer O Tothyo Projukti (Bengali).

 

·        Co-authored a book The Natural Wonders of India and Nepal published by Struik, New Holland Publishers, South Africa.

 

·        Represented India in a global delegation to the United States in a conference on the US & the World Economy (International Visitors’ Programme, 1992.).

 

·        Visited the United Kingdom on a British Government invitation (1990).

 

·        Wrote on contemporary US & UK life, culture & economy on return.

 

·        Taken part in several BBC programmes.
