Editors’ Notes

Spring 2007

We are pleased to inform you that the Journal of Globalization for the Common Good (www.commongoodjournal.com) has already established its niche and is gaining credibility and strength throughout the world. The positive and supportive comments that we have been receiving are most encouraging and indeed humbling.

For this special issue, we personally invited a number of prominent authors, scholars, and civil society leaders to write on their areas of expertise relating to Globalization for the Common Good. The colleagues whose papers appear in this issue responded to our invitation by writing papers that are testimonials to our highly complex and diverse global environment. Our hope is that these articles will ultimately result in increased dialogue, cooperation, and collaboration across the globe.

We are grateful to the following distinguished colleagues for their valuable contributions to the spring 2007 issue of Journal Globalization for the Common Good:

  • John Battle, MP (Leeds West UK), Faith in Public Reason: Working towards a Coherent World

  • John B. Cobb, Jr., Claremont School of Theology (USA), Globalization as an Enemy of the Common Good

  • Jamshid Damooei, California Lutheran University (USA), Globalization: Is It the Promise for Greater World Economic Convergence and a Better and More Equitable Future for Developing Countries?

  • Manochehr Dorraj, Texas Christian University (USA), The Secular Mirage: Modernity, The Postmodern Turn, and Religious Revivalism

  • Nasser Elahi, Mofid University (Qum, Iran), Globalization: An Islamic Perspective

  • Wendy C. Hamblet, Evil, Vengeance, and the Just Rule of Law

  • Farhang Jahanpour, Oxford University (UK), Islam and Human Rights

Journal of Globalization for the Common Good publishes works that focus on a wide range of global issues, such as poverty, human rights, global justice, propaganda, global media, global economy, global conflicts, inter-faith dialogue, ethics, cultural and spiritual values, international cooperation, non-violent conflict resolution and peace building, intercultural communication, alternative socio-economic models, young people and globalization, women's rights, human rights, war and peace, environmental issues, global rules and regulations, regional disputes and cooperation, alternative media, and other timely subjects involving globalization.

We would like to emphasize that views expressed in this journal are not necessarily endorsed by our sponsoring web host, Purdue University Calumet, members of the Advisory Committee, or the Journal editors.

Kindly email us your comments and suggestions regarding the contents, design, and possible future themes.

With warm regards,
