Editors’ Notes for Spring 2008
Dear Colleagues:
A very warm welcome to the Spring 2008
issue of the Journal of Globalization for the Common Good
which highlights work presented at our 6th Annual
International Conference, Fatih University, Istanbul in July
2007.
At our conference in Istanbul we were
truly privileged to have speakers of the highest calibre,
sharing their views with us all. As you know, given the
large number of papers, we decided that we should publish
half of them in our Autumn 2007 issue and the remainder in
the Spring 2008 issue.
Once again, it goes without saying that
we had a most successful, rewarding and fruitful conference
at Fatih University. We are most grateful for all the
hospitality, friendship and support given to us in Istanbul.
We are now looking forward with great
excitement to our 7th Annual International
Conference in Melbourne (http://www.gcgmelbourne2008.info/
) and hope to see many of you there. Please also pencil in
the dates (May 31- June 4, 2009) for our
2009 Conference,
which will be held at and hosted by Loyola University of
Chicago. See details:

We would like to emphasize that the views
expressed in this journal are not necessarily endorsed by
our sponsoring web host, Purdue University Calumet, members
of the Advisory Committee, or the Journal editors.

A
personal note from Kamran Mofid:
On January 12, 2008, a very good and dear
friend of many of us, Sidney Shipton, Coordinator, Three
Faiths Forum, London, UK, passed away. I was greatly
saddened by the sudden death of Sidney who had always shown
a great interest in the Globalisation for the Common Good
Initiative. He came to our first conference in Oxford and
then, with his wife, Judith attended our second conference
in St. Petersburg and then, they both joined us at Fatih
University in Istanbul. On behalf of GCG, I extend our
sincere condolences to his dear wife, Judith, to all his
family, friends and colleagues at the Three Faiths Forum,
especially Sir Sigmund Sternberg.
