An Annotated Index of Articles Appearing in the Sports Pages of the Lake County Times April 1915 through December of 1918 |
The index cites articles related to sports from the Lake County Times, the most prominent local newspaper in the Calumet region. The articles are separated into clusters of three consecutive months. To navigate the site, visitors should click on one of the highlighted sections below. Entries for the first month will appear. Within the index, visitors will encounter buttons which allow them To See the Next Month or to return to this table of contents by clicking To Select a Different Year. They may also return to the museum's Home Page or to the Table of Contents for all the museum's exhibits.
Each entry in the index includes the title of the article, the sport described in the article, a brief description of the article, the number of paragraphs in the article, and a classification for the article. Articles were classified as: international, national, regional, metropolitan, and local. Regional typically included articles related to the Midwest, while metropolitan included events associated with Chicago and its suburbs. Local articles involved any reference to the Calumet region. So articles describing Jimmy Clabby, a world-champion fighter, were always local, since Clabby was born in Hammond. Visitors may view any of the titles italicized in blue by clicking on that article.
